$1.4 Million Settlement – National Guardsman Runs Stop Sign
A National Guardsman returning home to Pittsburg, California, at night in his own car after Summer Camp ran through a stop sign at the intersection of Patterson Pass and Grant Line Roads and struck a vehicle operated by our client from Livermore, California. We contended that the Guardsman was acting within the scope of his employment, although Summer Camp had ended because he was required to report to the Pittsburg National Guard Armory. As a jury was being selected in Contra Costa County, the case settled with the State of California and the United States. Our client suffered traumatic brain injury and was able to use the funds from the settlement to pay for his medical care and costs of living.
