$400,000 Trial Settlement – Cal Trans Tow Truck Pushes Car Off Bridge
Our client was driving her car across the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Bridge when the car stalled on the bridge. A Cal Trans tow truck pushed her to the steep Fremont off ramp on the north side of the bridge although she protested. The car built up speed as it sped down the off ramp with no engine control. Because the engine was not working the brakes lost their effectiveness and the car crashed into a cement pillar at the bottom of the off ramp. We contended that our client’s car should have been towed or left in an area where the engine could be started. The case settled at trial.
